AUTHOR’S NOTES
A warm beverage made with steeping black tea leaves, milk, and sugar along with some optional spices. There are countless ways of making chai and none of them are wrong. Every household has a certain method. I encourage you to put your own flair to this classic beverage.
INGREDIENTS (SERVES 2)
2 teaspoons black tea leaves
3/4 cup milk
2 cups of water
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
2-3 green cardamom pods whole
Sugar to taste
DIRECTIONS
Combine water and milk in a saucepan and heat.
Bring it to a boil.
Add tea leaves.
Steep for 4-5 minutes with constant stirring.
Add freshly grated ginger.
Steep for 2-3 minutes.
Break up your cardamom pods in a mortar and pestle.
Add that to the mixture.
Steep for 2-3 minutes.
Strain and add sugar to taste.
Enjoy hot.
